REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool
REVEAL is a data visualisation, analysis and data conversion application, comptible with IRIG106 Chapter 10 and all S3DR data recordings.

Key features of REVEAL include:
- Conversion data to a variety of formats to allow analysis with domain specific tools
- Interpretation of data to demultiplex or decommutate a data stream into its constituent parameters
- Archiving of data to hard disk, CD or DVD for later analysis
- Visualisation of data to allow visual analysis within REVEAL using a framework that supports real-time and fast-time playback
- Analysis of data to highlight key events
Designed and developed to run under Microsoft Windows, REVEAL can be run on a standard off the shelf desktop PC or laptop without the need for special hardware.

S3DR Import
REVEAL is the partner product to the S3DR range of solid state data recorders.
Designed with complete integration in mind, REVEAL allows fast and easy access to data streams recorded on the S3DR-C, S3DR-E and S3DR-F families of recorders through removable media, making data extraction and validation a simple task that can be carried out in the field with a standard laptop PC.
Connect REVEAL to the S3DR unit via Ethernet for live monitoring of the incoming data streams while recording. After connection you can review all the data captured since REVEAL was connected.
Chapter 10 Import
IRIG106 Chapter 10 is the standard for digital data recording as defined by the Range Commanders Council and is the accepted standard for telemetry data recording within the US Military.
REVEAL supports both the loading and saving of data within this format, allowing the use of the application across all your Chapter 10 compliant data recorders not only those supplied by SES, while still providing access to all the features of REVEAL. REVEAL supports native reading of CH 10 file systems over IEEE 1394B.
Other Data Sources
REVEAL is capable of interpreting and processing data from a number of other Data Recording Systems.
Data Processing
Straight out of the box, REVEAL allows the processing of data recorded over a wide range of standard interfaces including:
- Mil-Std 1533B
- Analogue
- Arinc 429
- Audio
- CAN Bus
- PCM
- Ethernet
- Serial (RS232, RS422, RS485)
- Video, encoded as MPEG2
- IRIG B
At the core of REVEAL is a sophisticated data interpretation engine that is capable of splitting data streams into individual messages, frames, or parameters, ready for visualisation.
REVEAL provides its own mechanism for creating data definitions that describe the format of the data, while also supporting a number of third party tools and standard data formats.

REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool: Options: Visualisation
REVEAL provides an extensive suite of data visualisation tools, allowing the recorded session to be thoroughly reviewed in-depth while in the field, or during later analysis without the need of third-party tools.
Any of the streams can be visualised and utilise REVEAL's inbuilt data definition format, to define the structure of your data, allowing you to visualise the parameters in a variety of meaningful ways, including:
- High Speed Multi Parameter Line Graph
- Tabulated Data Grid
- Digital Readouts
- Range of Gauges (including standard flight panel gauges)
- VAPS (Intergrate existing VAPS controls with REVEAL)
- Time Display (Including IRIG B)
- Hexadecimal
- Video
- Audio
- Map (including Aerial Photography)
- 1553 Formatted Text
- Arinc 429 Formatted Text
These windows allow the user to immediately find critical or key events in an intuitive fashion and mark them for further analysis.
These visualisations can be synchronised with each other to allow a complete picture of your data to be viewed.
REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool: Analysis
REVEAL allows raw data streams of recorded data to be enriched with user defined event markers, allowing key points in the recording to be highlighted and accessed for review.
These may be created in a number of ways.
REVEAL scans the data stream and automatically adds an event marker whenever the data meets preset user-defined criteria.
REVEAL reads and displays the event markers inserted by the data recorder during the recording process, for example when a pilot presses an event button.
REVEAL allows the user to move to any given point in the session time line and insert their own event marker.
These events can then be saved as part of the session data, and become available for any future reviews of the data set.
REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool: Options: Data Management
REVEAL provides seamless in-built functionality to allow the archival and searching of recorded data sessions to a number of storage media.
This provides a convenient method of keeping critical data for future review and analysis. REVEAL offers archiving to local disk file, CD-ROM, and DVD in both data and DVD Video formats, allowing recorded video sessions to be reviewed using a conventional DVD player and television.
REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool: Options: Replay
Where appropriate hardware is available, REVEAL can be configured to allow replay of recorded data over dedicated hardware outputs.
Such a replay facility can be delivered as a dedicated workstation with bespoke controller and multiple screens.
By building the application from core REVEAL functions, the workstation can be tailored to meet an exact requirement.
REVEAL - S3DR Data Retrieval and Management Tool: Format Conversion
Central to the functionality of REVEAL is the ability to convert recorded data streams from a range of proprietary and industry-standard formats into other formats allowing further analysis using domain specific tools.
Output formats include:
- CSV
- RAW Binary
- Time Stamped Binary
- IRIG106 Ch10
- IRIG106 Ch8 for MIL-STD 1553B
- MPEG-2
- MPEG-4
- WAV
- JPG
